General information 

The International Piano School, Studio Kullmann, offers private lessons in piano and harpsichord for children ages 5-18 as well as adults.  The studio is located close to Düsseldorf, in Ratingen Center.  Anne Kullmann has taught private lessons for over two decades.  Before moving to Germany she worked as piano teacher for eleven years at The American School of The Hague as well as teaching private students from other international schools.  She holds degrees in piano and harpsichord performance from Yale University, The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and Boise State University.  She has also performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout Europe as well as recorded prize winning CDs.

The lessons consist of piano/harpsichord repertoire, technique, sight-reading, aural training and music theory.  Essential goals are building up repertoire to perform in recitals and/or preparing for the ABRSM performance or theory exams.  The lessons are scheduled Monday-Friday once a week throughout the school year.  Weekend lessons are possible on limited basis.  Daily practice at home is expected of each student.  There will be a written progress report sent home at the end of each school year.   English is the main language used in the lessons but also German and Finnish are possible upon request.  In principle, the lessons take place at the Studio in Ratingen.  However, there are also some options (based on logistics and availability) to have lessons at your own home.  

Tuition is billed four times a year.  The payments periods are as follows: 

Period 1: September-October (payment due on September 1st) 

Period 2: November-January (payment due on November 1st) 

Period 3: February-April (payment due on February 1st) 

Period 4: May-July (payment due on May 1st) 

An invoice with lesson dates is sent via e-mail two weeks before the start of each period.  The lesson dates are set according to the school calendar.  No lessons will be scheduled during school vacations, unless upon request/agreement. 

€ 26,50 for 30min. lesson (recommended for ages 5-9 or absolute beginners) 

€ 36,50 for 45min. lesson (recommended for ages 10-13, those who are preparing for ABRSM exams in levels 1-4, or intermediate students) 

€ 46,50 for 60min. lesson (recommended for ages 14-18, those who are preparing for ABRSM exams in levels 5-8, or advanced students)

There are no refunds for missed lessons.  If a lesson is cancelled properly in advance (by phone, SMS or e-mail), a make up lesson opportunity will be offered if and when there is availability.  As such availability cannot be guaranteed, every effort should be made to attend the lessons.  If the lesson is cancelled by the teacher for any reason, there will be a refund for that lesson unless a make up lesson time has been arranged and agreed on.  

The commitment for lessons is on quarterly basis.  If you would like to discontinue your lessons, please send a written request (e-mail) at the latest by two weeks before the beginning of a new quarter.  This way you will not be billed for the following period.  If you decide to stop after the new quarter has already begun and the bill for that period has already been issued and sent, there will be no refund for that period unless your place is immediately filled by someone else.
